About this deal

Figures notorious for their opaque philosophical ruminations, such as Martin Heidegger and Marshall McLuhan, are introduced with an inviting blend of humor and clarity. This makes it sound like a picture book with a moral (which can be terribly patronizing), but it doesn’t feel like that at all. A mix of dreamy fantasy and scientific fact, this is the perfect gift for any child with their head stuck in the clouds – and for anyone who has ever wondered what’s up there in the skies above.

About a young man and his family as they walk through life with cancer and then the news any parent never wants to hear. This book serves as a cloud spotters guide that lets you know where clouds come from, why they look the way they do, and why they have been so fascinating to artists, poets, and even every child that has been given a crayon and a piece of paper. Now don’t get me wrong, I would still highly recommend this book especially if you’re interested in learning more about Zach’s story but I think everyone needs to go into this knowing that it’s written in a very “stream of consciousness” style which I wasn’t exactly a fan of.

I have watched the movie on Disney+ months ago and after finding out that it was based on a memoir book, I feel compelled to read it despite my lack of experience reading one. Approximate reading age: for reading aloud to children aged 6+; for children aged 8+ to read on their own. These cookies help provide information on metrics the number of visitors, bounce rate, traffic source, etc. Even after his passing, people kept coming up to his parents at his funeral to discuss how he had touched their lives through his songs or his small acts of kindness.

If you look up on a cloudy day, you’ll see a whole new surprising world above you – the world of clouds! These types of books keep the text simple and include photographs and illustrations that help to catch the attention of young, curious minds. Sometimes books about clouds and weather can be very scientific and difficult to understand but The Cloud Book follows a logical progression that is simple to follow, even if this is your first time picking up a book about clouds. They remind parents that this is more geared toward preschool and kindergarten age children and although some older children could appreciate the book, it may be much too low of a reading level. After watching and reading the book/film Zach's spirit has been so apparent in my own life, I now look up to the clouds on a sunny day and my cup is filled with tremendous joy and hope, I feel his presence when I play "Clouds" on guitar in the room, it just becomes laden with this massive sense of happiness in the moment which I cannot even explain.Peters’s book will not only change how we think about media but provide a new appreciation for the day-to-day foundations of life on earth that we so often take for granted. I am not sure that I have laughed and cried at the same time before but I was definitely tearing up and then laughing the next paragraph.

Dr Weiss, a historian obsessed with the coexistence of different times in the same space, whose decades-old thoughts she transcribes from Dictaphone tapes, is literally a voice from the past, as well as a frail, enigmatic presence shuffling through his darkened flat.

As for the writing style, at times it was a little clunky but overall, it flowed very well and pulled me in as a reader. Im Anschluss habe ich etwas nachrecherchiert und es ist unglaublich, was Zach Sobiech der Welt hinterlassen, wie viele Menschen er berührt und sogar deren Leben geändert hat. I do really love all the things about Zach, he was only spending short of his time on this earth but he tried his best to spread positivity and happiness to others. There are lovely asides on the magic of seminar discussion, on Eisendrath’s introduction to rhythm and its relation to style through childhood games of double-dutch, on reading at night by lamplight.
