With an integrated detachable raincover, internal hydration sleeve and an adjustable sternum strap with whistle, this rucksack will have you well prepared for all your hiking adventures. It’s nowhere near as luxurious as the memory foam you see on heavier load luggers, but this pack isn’t meant to be carrying that kind of weight. Inside the main compartment is an sleeve for a hydration bladder with a central hole for the tube so that you can run it down either arm strap both of which have two elasticated loops to feed the tube through.

It sits a little higher than I’m used to, but this hip belt isn’t there for weight transfer like you get with the heavier load luggers.Whether you like rain covers is a matter of personal preference – in this case, whilst the cover itself is robust it’s just held in place by an elasticated cord which can be tightened but I found it inadequate to hold the cover in place in the windiest conditions; it really needs a small buckle at the back to hold it in place. Its made of the same material as the other Osprey rain covers so should turn a few showers, but don’t rely on it to protect critical electronics, dry bags are best for that. Designed for easy access, in theory it’s a good idea, but in practice I find I’m too worried to keep anything inside it in case it falls out.

This is another superb quality Osprey backpack, which has fast become my go-to choice for day hikes, whilst I still use my larger Osprey Tempest more for travel and camping purposes. The cover comes stashed inside a zipped pocket at the pack's base to keep it out of sight but easy to access quickly.
