Bruichladdich's Fèis Ìle 2013 festival bottling was a tribute to Jim McEwan's impressive “50 years of whisky creation”. In 1921 it was acquired by Benmore Distilleries Limited which was taken over in 1929 by the Distillery Company Ltd. Created by Jim McEwan from whisky matured in American oak casks alongside Lochindaal, and chosen to represent the classic, unpeated distillery style.

The village has maintained a lot of its character although the area around the pier nowadays are mostly holiday lets. How nice that, even nowadays, at Port Charlotte you don't have to stretch that far to get a really good dram in your glass. The Port Charlotte brand commemorates the former Lochindaal distillery, which operated in the village of Port Charlotte two miles south of Bruichladdich from 1829 until 1929. This bottling of its heavily peated Port Charlotte single malt Scotch whisky was matured in a combination of sherry butts and American oak casks, and also enjoying a finishing period in Sauternes wine casks! Another restaurant is run by Ranga and can be found at Port Mor, the campsite just outside Port Charlotte on the road to Portnahaven.And to the west of Port Charlotte is Kilchiaran which has a farm, and more importantly Kilchiaran Chapel and bay.
